Life and Sleep Quality amongst Peritoneal Dialysis Patients: A Comparative Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: Sleep disorders affect up to 70% of peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients and appear have significant negative effects on their quality life (QoL). We compared sleep between automated PD (APD) continuous ambulatory (CAPD). Material Methods: Cross-sectional study in chronic followed our Dialysis Unit February 2022. evaluated with the Pittsburgh Quality Index (PSQI) Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) QoL EUROHIS-QOL-8. Results: Fifty-two patients, mostly men (65.4%, n=32), a mean age 52.7±14.2 years vintage 24.3±17.1 months. Our sample had similar distribution APD CAPD; we found no difference groups regarding demographic data, PD-related parameters or prevalence previous disturbances. Mean index was 69.9%±9.3% CAPD patients; EUROHIS-QOL-8 negatively correlated scores ESS (p=0.004) PSQI (p=0.011). Regarding quality, 8.8±4.2 7.6±3.6. ESS, but higher severe daytime sleepiness (ESS≥18) (p=0.04) (p=0.002). Within PSQI, sleep’ latency (p=0.003), duration (p=0.002) efficiency (p=0.013) were most affected parameters. Higher also worse blood pressure control; cut-off value for 6 increase risk uncontrolled hypertension. Conclusion: In series, global when ACPD patients. This mainly due latency, efficiency. The assessment showed groups, however there clear link quality.

Sleep Quality in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis
BACKGROUND Sleep disturbances are common among uremic patients; however, limited data are available on predictors of sleep quality in this population. We assessed sleep quality in patients on hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) and investigated predictors related to sleep quality. METHODS Patients on maintenance HD and PD were consecutively included from two medical centers in Isfa...
متن کاملQuality of life of caregivers and patients on peritoneal dialysis.
Peritoneal dialysis is the archetypal home-based therapy and is often favoured by patients. However, as patients with end-stage renal failure become more elderly, with more co-morbidity, their dependence on carers to provide physical, emotional and logistical support increases. The effect of this chronic burden has not been systematically studied. We have prospectively studied patients with end...
متن کاملOverhydration Negatively Affects Quality of Life in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients: Evidence from a Prospective Observational Study
UNLABELLED Backgound: This study evaluated whether the hydration status affected health-related quality of life (HRQOL) during 12 months in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. METHODS The hydration status and the HRQOL were examined at baseline and after 12 months using a bioimpedance spectroscopy and Kidney Disease Quality of Life-Short Form, respectively in PD patients. Four hundred eighty-o...
متن کاملA Comparative Study on Using Coiled Versus Straight Swan-Neck Tenckhoff Catheters in Patients Undergoing Peritoneal Dialysis
The key to successful long-term peritoneal dialysis (PD) is permanent and safe access to peritoneal cavity. The two most commonly used Tenckoff catheters for PD are the straight and coiled catheters. The present study was undertaken to assess the catheter survival, catheter associated infections, and all cause mortality and to compare the straight with coiled catheters in PD. During April 1997-...

Background & Objective: According to the World Health Organization (WHO) definition, quality of life is a state of complete physical, mental, and social health not merely the absence of the disease. End stage renal disease and its treatment affect patients' quality of life. Therefore, the present study surveyed the quality of life in renal transplant recipients, hemodialysis, and peritoneal di...
